QUESTION: Do I have to use a lotion?
Yes, you should. Four Seasons offers a wide variety of top quality tanning lotions. If you choice to NOT use a lotion, you will absorb only about 50% of the UV light and only retain the tanned appearance about 50% as long. You need 3 things to be able to tan: UVA, UVB, and Oxygen. Without oxygen the tanning process can not take place. Most of our lotions are formulated with CuO2 which is simply an oxygen boost for you skin. DRY SKIN WON’T EVER TAN! QUESTION: Do I have to wear protective eye wear every time?
ABSOLUTELY-every time! Your eyelids do NOT contain melanin thus they will not tan. They will just burn. Even short periods of eye exposure to UV light will lead to both temporary and long-term damage. As the rays penetrate the organ, they can cause burning of the eye (retinal burns), cataracts, and other vision problems that may lead to the need for surgical correction. Ultraviolet light injures the eye because eyelids are too thin to provide protection. (* Source: International Smart Tan Network; Basic Technical Certification Manual;11th Edition)
QUESTION: Can I tan while I’m pregnant?
One concern that we must focus on is heat. Excessive heat could come from Jacuzzis, saunas, or mid summer temperatures as well as tanning units. Four Seasons offers tanning units with air conditioning and turbo fans that may help eliminate any discomfort. An expectant mother should always stay well hydrated at all times. We offer a selection of cold beverages to ensure hydration. Most expectant mothers are concerned with UV light penetration. Ultraviolet light penetrates approximately 2 mm deep into the skin (roughly the thickness of cardboard or 2 compact discs put together). This distance is not far enough to reach the infant or vital organs. We still advise consulting your OB-GYN and with this knowledge come to an approval. Just remember Vitamin D comes naturally from UV light. (* Source: International Smart Tan Network; Basic Technical Certification Manual;11th Edition)

QUESTION: How does high pressure work?
You can experience High Pressure at Four Seasons in The Matrix. The ultraviolet light you receive from the Matrix is UVA—a deeper tan. This tan will continue to develop over the next 48 hrs. The Matrix will help to maintain an existing tan so you won’t need to tan as often, also this is a great way to build a bronzing base tan appearance in fewer sessions!! QUESTION: How does the teeth whitening system work?
We offer a teeth whitening system known as Twilight Teeth. The system works with the UV light and the ingredient Carbamide Peroxide. This whitening system will provide the same whitening results as experienced in dental offices. After just one visit, results are noticeable. Twilight Teeth is not only inexpensive, it is safe to use at your favorite tanning salon, highly effective and the powerful ingredient is simple to apply without all the messy gel. To work effectively, the solution should be used while tanning between 8 and 30 minutes. You should continue the process until you achieve the desired level of whitening. Each bottle supplies approximately 10 to 12 applications and most people are able to do touch ups two or more times per month. Even though an occasional touch up may be needed, most people notice a whiter smile for up to 6 months. (*Source: http://www.twilightteeth.com/faqs)

QUESTION: Do I have to start out in a level 1 (one) unit?
No, you do not have to start out in a level 1 unit. At Four Seasons, a level 1 (one) unit is a 10 minute bed that offers UVB light. This kind of light will provide a pink cast to the skin, and this tends to fade rather quickly. A level 2 or level 3 would be a better choice to start out because they provide a mix of UVA & UVB light. The difference in the light is that UVA will offer a deeper tan, a bronze color to the skin and this will last longer. Just keep in mind that you need equal amounts of BOTH kinds of light to achieve a tan. (* Source: International Smart Tan Network; Basic Technical Certification Manual;11th Edition)
